A rendering of J&G Steakhouse

Put aside those preconceptions! Celeb chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s J&G Steakhouse, set to debut July 8 in the new W Hotel opposite the White House, is nothing like the heavy-hitter, testosterone palaces around town. It’s a visual wow – the beaux arts landmark (formerly the Hotel Washington) boasts a gorgeous main dining room accented by silk-screened cherry blossoms on the lofty ceiling, elegant white columns, huge windows and wine-colored velvet couches and chairs. On the menu, expect signature dishes from his NYC restaurants, most notably Jean Georges, along with interestingly sided steaks (plus the obligatory when-in-DC crab cakes). Meanwhile, artisanal cocktails and zesty dishes from his Spice Market repertoire will be served at the intimate wine bar, the glamorous lobby and the legendary rooftop with breathtaking views (515 15th St. NW; 202-661-2440).
