Occupying a handsome 19th-century Old Town building that once housed the namesake fire company (and, most recently, Bookbinder’s), Columbia Firehouse, an American saloon and raw bar from the Neighborhood Restaurant Group (Buzz, Evening Star Cafe, Rustico, Tallula, Vermilion), is aiming to extinguish hunger pangs with an affordable menu of comfort food with a twist; the setting includes a roomy bar and glass-enclosed atrium, plus an opulent upstairs space slated to open as a classic chophouse later in ’09.
