Tinkering With 701, MoZu

Penn Quarter Modern American 701 will close its doors August 2–10 for a reno that includes a new color scheme and window treatments, plus a semi-enclosed lounge and private rooms. When it reopens, there will also be a noteworthy change in the kitchen: new chef Adam Longworth, whose credits include top NYC venues including Gotham Bar & Grill and Gramercy Tavern.

Also getting a makeover is Café MoZU in the posh Mandarin Oriental hotel; it will be closed from August 23–September 6 to be recast as The Sou’wester, a casual American with lower prices. Chef Eric Ziebold, whose highly rated eatery, CityZen, will also be closed from August 25–September 10 for its annual vacation, will be overseeing the reconceptualization.
