The long-awaited Mid City Caffé opens on Saturday, August 15, in retro digs above Miss Pixie’s furnishing shop near Logan Circle. Counter Culture Coffee will be prepared as traditional espresso drinks, in individual French presses or at a unique custom “pour-over” bar. Bakery items like sticky buns from Hawthorne Fine Breakfast Pastry and Polly Brown’s graham crackers will keep hunger at bay. The quirky deco setting includes a velvet-upholstered couch made to look like the backseat of a vintage car, and there’s also free WiFi and sidewalk seating (1626 14th St. NW; 202-234-1515).
