A Sou’Wester Is Blowing In

Come mid-September, an approachable American restaurant dubbed Sou ‘Wester will replace posh Café MoZU in the Mandarin Oriental hotel overlooking the southwest waterfront. It’s the brainchild of Eric Ziebold, who recruited his CityZen sous chef (and fellow French Laundry alumnus) Rachael Harriman to prepare Southern-accented fare like chicken and dumplings, braised rabbit and fried apple pie. Lunchtime soup/salad/sandwich combinations will cater to tourists and local office workers – ditto its happy hour deals. Natural light from tall windows will burnish its earth-toned farmhouse decor. Note: Café MoZU remains in operation on the outdoor terrace and in the conservatory area during renovations; CityZen is on vacation through September 10.
