La Grenouille, Eleven Madison Park or Sho Shaun

Which is the best of the three? I am going to NYC with my boyfriend for the night, he has business in the city. I wouldn't mind eating at an Italian Restaurant, but doesn't look like there are many that have great food and a great scene.
    Suggestions, PLEASE!!!

Eleven Madison Park, hands down. Frank Bruni lists it in his Times farewell column as the best value fine dining experience in the city. He is not just talking about the cost (it's not cheap), but the beautiful service and food you get for it. They're often full though and if so I would suggest Jean George on Central Park South. Pick the less formal main room though, it's practically the same food and a warmer atmosphere. Esca is lovely elevated Italian food but it doesn't have the dining room opulence of the other two.  Have a nice trip!

I agree with Eleven Madison. It's wonderful. And if you have the time, go to Tabla next door for a pre-dinner drink at the bar.

Whatever you do, DO NOT go to La Grenouille! Went there two days ago - really, really BAD On the other hand - Harry Cipriani's was the best meal I've had in a long, long time..... If you go to Harry's you must ask for their most popular dish - a pasta with a light cream sauce, which has been lightly covered with cheese and run through the oven... mmm, mmmm something next to heaven.
