    traditional breakfast in Manhattan

I have friends from out of town staying in a modest UWS hotel and want to take them out for breakfast. Any recommendations that won't bust a budget or leave us with indigestion?

That's my neighborhood and there are countless places to go. Here a few suggestions that are reasonably priced (some more than others - so check out the Zagat links to the right):

Charming/Quaint: The Popover Cafe, Good Enough To Eat. Sarabeth's
    French Cafe: Le Pain Quotidien
    Italian: Isabella's
    Jewish Deli: Barney Greengrass

If you are going for a weekend brunch I would suggest an early start as all these place get very crowded.

I would try a typical old style neighborhood Diner.
