    I have a complaint...

I find it rude, irritating and astonishing that so often on these Zagat boards people post looking for advice and suggestions and then never reply to thank those who have taken the time and effort to post an informative and well-considered reply. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. What’s up with that? Outside of the Zagat administrators, we do not work for Zagat so our replies are given on our own time and with great consideration for a topic that we care about. Do these offenders think that manners don’t apply to strangers? To message boards?

    One more time...Grrrrrrrrrrr!

    La Linda ...

Hi! This must be some form of mental telepathy. Just last evening, the lack of appreciation by strangers became a topic of conversation amongst my dinner companions. We covered many situations where a ‘thank you’ would have been the proper thing to do, but, never was offered. I brought up these boards as one of my examples.

I know that you and I don’t offer help for the sake of receiving a ‘thank you’. We offer because we’re proud NY’ers who want to help others so that they might appreciate NYC’s many benefits. Nevertheless, it is nice when someone who you’ve tried to help expresses appreciation for your effort.

Therefore, I’m sure that we will not allow other people’s lack of consideration to deter us from continuing to help. Simply because it makes us feel good to do so. And, that’s the feeling that we truly enjoy!!!

Thank you Linda and Kenard for your well-reasoned observations!

    Kirk ...

I know that you have been most generous in proffering educated responses to peoples’ cries for help. I’m sure that all who try to assist can commiserate about the seeming lack of recognition by many of those that we have sought to offer help.

As has been said many times; “How soon they forget”!!!

P.S. I’m still jealous of the ‘truffled fettuccine’ lunch that you had the other day. At which Olive Garden did you say you had it? And was the all-you-can-eat salad bar and bread sticks included in the price? Oh, by any chance was it on the “early-bird” special menu? Do tell.......

    Kenard,

Actually, I consumed condiments for my entrée!! You remember (??) the Reagan years....or perhaps it may have been udon topped with shaved spam! Hmmmm.

Notwithstanding, the lack of recognition really does not bother me, however I most enjoy responding to queries or answers posted by you, Linda, or Terrence.

    Hi Kenard and Kirk,

As usual, I was hoping that we would hear from you here ;-)

It's not specifically a lack of recognition for myself...it's just a general lack of manners that gets to me. You both, as well as many others, are so generous with thoughtful recommendations. IMHO - It's awfully selfish for the original poster not to pop back with a simple thank you.

    Now where is Terrence?

    Kirk ...

Udon topped with shaved Spam? I would say that is definitely the strongest contender to become the, “State Dish of Hawaii”!

    Bravo!!!

Terrence appears....stage left...   "Terrence is here...!!"  [applause...]

Thank you, thank you...  I do wish the four of us could enjoy drinks and dinner some time........

Manners / gratitude / and other forms of consideration have been diminishing over time for years....  Civility, living in and among people together in a civilization works best if manners in good supply are applied all around...  That manners are lacking is of note, however, I'll not change my ways of mannerly behavior...  Manners are actually an easy way to live and easy to apply...and they're simple too...  Emily Post herself said that good manners mean having a "sensitive awareness of the feeling of others"...alluding to their comfort, their needs, and their circumstances...  "If you have that awareness," she said, "you have good manners, no matter what fork you use."  Sometimes, like kindness, using good manners with others will encourage them to do the same...  Sometimes the young or others can skip manners.....encouraging them along the way can be of benefit in the future...  If people serve as good models of behavior, in an attractive way, emmulation may follow...

    Hi

Actually Udon topped with Vienna Sausage would be the choice in the Islands. The preference, however, would be IchiBan or any ramen noodle.

Add some chopped green onions and you are in business.

    Thanks for the memories....

    Thomas,

Actually, spam would be over saimin - just the way my relatives in Pearl City serve it. Also, ramen is not the same noodle as udon. Udon is much thicker than a ramen noodle, and has a different taste altogether..
