About four years ago we went to NYC for the parade, stayed at a hotel and went to Little Italy Wednsday night and American Grille, which is located right next to the Rockefeller Skating Rink. It was a great time.

My favorite is Bryant Park Grille. Have been there two years running for thanksgiving dinner. Good food, excellent view of the park.

Gotham, at 12 E 12, has a fabulous Thanksgiving menu in its elegant room. Pricey, but worth it. Reservations go fast.

Elegant and memorable? I love Dovetail at 103 West Columbus. Great chef. Web site is www.dovetailnyc.com.

My favorite newcomer is Locanda Verde in Tribeca at 377 Greenwich (at North Moore St.).Web site is www.locandaverdenyc.com. Love the buzz and the food here, but I cannot call it elegant..just very good!

I think I would select Eleven Madison Park at 11 Madison Ave (at 24th Street) for elegant and memorable. It is wonderful. Web site is www.elevenmadisonpark.com. I believe the NY Times awarded it four stars this year.

Second choice for a Danny Meyer restaurant is Gramercy Tavern nearby at 42 East 20th Street. It has made a very nice comeback! Web site is www.gramercytavern.com.

    Hope this helps. Enjoy!

    Lynn,
The Mark on Madison and 76th has an elegant Thanksgiving dinner. However, Le Refuge on E. 82 is a great spot for a comfortable, more homey atmosphere, and I prefer it. You won't go wrong at either, and I would guess most of the high end hotels will offer something similar to The Mark.

    Hey LynnS1328

I went to visit my brother for the US Thanksgiving (we're Canadian) and wow! what an experience! We ate at Toqueville near Union Square (15th street I think?). Very elegant, but definitely not pretentious. The waiters were friendly, but not overbearing, and most importantly the food was fantastic! After that we capped our evening off with drinks at a nearby W Hotel lounge. Can't wait to spend New Year's in NYC this year!

    Re: Thanksgiving Dinner in NYC?

I need a recommendation please for a restaurant (or lovely hotel) for Thanksgiving dinner. Our family ranges in age from 8 to 84 years old. A restaurant in the East 50's would be a plus. Thank you!
