RUTHS CHRIS STEAKHOUSE IN THE OLD CITY HALLhas everything a great steakhouse is made of. The decor is beautiful. it has a combination of large and small rooms. One room was Kevin White's office another is the vault where the city kept it's money. If you are into being seen there are two plush large room. In recent visit people have seen many of the redsoxs, celts and Tom Brady is a regular. Mel Gibson, Robert dinero, Ben Alfleck and even the Mayor is a regular.
The Steaks are PRIME and come sizzling to your table on 500 degree plates which keeps your steak hot until you are finished. Service is one of the best in Boston with a very friendly and warm staff. And the bar is huge an a place to be seen in. I have been to all the big steak house in the city and I have not found a better steakhouse. Make a reservation and you will be a raving fan!

IF you're going to a Stk Hse to see celebrities maybe RC wins out right. If you're going for decor and ambiance I would suggest that Smith&Woll challenges RC on interesting features. Smith&Woll is in the Castle shaped Stone Building complete with a Turret Tower (That should you be nonchalant enough about you can make your way to the top. All the way outside and check out the view around Park Plaza, it is neat.) that was an old armory building.
However, If you want the BEST Prime-Aged Beef in the City, cooked to perfection and terrific sides, while not being as la-dee-da as others, FLEMMING'S takes...the...Steak!

Grill 23 for overall (the kobe cap steak....), but Abe and Louie's has a great prime rib (freshly grated horseradish is a bonus). Had several mediocre to outiright bad experiences at the palm, capital grille and KO prime. Ruths' Chris, Morton's, Smith & Wollensky are all very good with nothing to complain about, but, I think, a notch below the aforementioned Grill 23 and Abe & Louie's. Have not been to Moo or Boston Public yet- so can't compare those.

Don't mess around ... go to Grill 23. Great service, great atmosphere, never disappoints. And be sure to order their 'tots.'

    Which Grill 23?
I have enjoyed The Chestnut Hill, and Abe & Louis is never disappointing.

    Re: Best Steak House

Best steak in Boston is Flemming's in Theatre District. Also, best mac n' cheese. A bit pricey but well worth it.
