An Evening on the Seine

February 24, 2010

Comme Ça

Comme Ça

8479 Melrose Avenue (La Cienega Blvd.)

Join chef David Myers and new Comme Ça executive chef Dong Choi as they create a menu of brasserie classics in honor of you, their loyal patrons past and future, at this bustling WeHo destination. Traditional combinations and modern techniques mingle throughout the four courses, with each dish accentuated with a wine pairing from the Grateful Palate's portfolio. Start with a salade de legume with charred eggplant vinaigrette and raw sheep's milk pecorino, then settle into skate “grenobloise” with haricot vert, golden raisins, almonds and capers. The third course will bring you roasted squab breast with chestnut foie gras agnolotti, bing cherries and squab jus while the final touch to the evening comes in the form of chocolate banana nut bread with caramelized banana milk and chicory ice cream.

Event Details:

$50 for four courses, $20 additional for wine pairings; tax and gratuity not included.

Go ‘Hog Wild’ at Café Pierre

March 9, 2010

Café Pierre

Café Pierre

317 Manhattan Beach Blvd. (bet. Highland Ave. & Morningside Dr.)

Chef Remi Lauvand invites you to go ‘hog wild’ at this Manhattan Beach bistro for a special three-course dinner starring the other white meat. Even better, the meal features Becker Lane Organic Farm's rare Heritage Hogs, organically fed and sustainably raised to provide well-marbled pork with unparalleled flavor. The first taste of this exquisite meat is in Provençal pork “caillette” with roasted vegetable salad and confit shallots; next, the featured ingredient is served with Brussels sprouts, wild mushrooms and bergamot orange jus. The final dish of the evening strays from the hoggish theme, but will not disappoint: a rhubarb “cobbler” with candied rhubarb and orange shortbread. For those that need a little wine with their swine, owner Guy Gabriele will also be on hand to make pairing suggestions.

Event Details:

$50 for three courses, wine pairings available at additional cost; tax and gratuity not included.
