  • The best! I guarantee you'll adore the food. I've been dining here for more than a dozen years. The food and margaritas are consistently superb. Great flavors and wonderful, endless chips and salsa at every table. Much better food than ALL other restaurants with this cuisine. I usually go to the one in Cleveland Park with the sublime porch but the DuPont Circle location is equally as wonderful. I prefer the food at Alero to any other restaurant.

  • This is my favorite restaurant. I follow that up with saying I'm in the restaurant industry and am engaged to a chef. The food is solid (though I would stick to the items that are traditionally Mexican). The margaritas are among the best I've ever had, and the service is friendly, if not fine-dining responsive. Being part of the upscale dining world, I come to this place to enjoy the simple luxuries of dining out: Good food and great drinks.

  • Served white people before us even though we arrived before them. They said the temperature could not be adjusted when we told them it was warm, but when the white couple said it was warm they ran to the thermostat to adjust the temperature. They also got the complimentary chips and salsa before we did. Bad customer service. My friend said the chips and salsa were good. Alero obviously doesn't appreciate minority patronage. Booooo to Alero!

  • I come here all the time. The chips and salsa are fresh, which is key for a Mexican restaurant. The margaritas are great; frozen margs have an odd aftertaste, but after the first one, it's hard to tell.If you like spicy, ask the waiter for the salsa picante. You only need a tiny tiny tiny spoonful to add to the salsa and the flavor lingers. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and always remember me when I come back.
