Amakara is not traditional Japanese. Many of the dishes would be impssible to find in Japan. But, it is fun, friendly, and the food, which is sort of a Japanese modern fusion cuisine, is fresh, brightly flavored, and delicious. The management and staff are extremely nice. Yes, service can get slow when it is busy, because everything is made to order. We truly enjoy ourselves there and everyone we have brought there wants to return.
The first time we went the service was really slow. We were seated toward the front and the bartender was serving us. The food was not worth the 1 1/2 hour wait. We went back again, because the food had good reviews. The next time ordered off the house specialties menu and the food was fantastic. We ordered a lot of sashimi too--it was all excellent. Would highly recommend. Ask to sit at the back of the restaurant for better service.
Surprisingly good Sushi for East Bay. Calamari in Ponzu sauce was tasty and different. Fresh fish and many options of house rolls. Best place for sushi in Dublin.
