The waitstaff was very informative, the food was fresh, flavorful, well prepared, and well presented. Don't miss these appetizers: cheese with chorizo, and pork ribs pork ribs. The squash is deep fried not dissimilar to tempura, and isn't impressive. As for entres, the monkfish soup is flavorful and interesting, and the flat iron steak is great as well, though non-traditionally prepared.

My kids took me there for my birthday, and the chef threw a party for my palate. Everything was delicious, unusual, and fun to eat. Each bite was interesting and rich, but not too rich. I liked the family-style service, too; this food is too heavy for a whole plateful. The waiter was very helpful and informative. The room is fairly ugly and fairly noisy, but I'd go back anytime. A special experience.

Went to Animal for the last week of legal foie in CA. After all five amazingly prepared and perfectly tasting foie dishes, we decided to step out of our comfort zone and order the veal brains with carrots and a coconut curry sauce... Without a doubt it blew my mind (pun intended).
But beyond the individual dishes, at Animal, you will receive perfectly prepared dishes, beautiful presentations, and most importantly, some of the best food in LA.Published November 6, 2012 -
What are they thinking?? This place charges 20 cents for a glass of L.A. tap water? Had dinner with another couple and had a bill of over $200 and they tacked on 80 cents for tap water. The last time I will eat here; bad attitude toward customers. Not worth the hype.
