I have been to Anthony's twice and wanted to like it so bad, I am a fan of old establishments and also the location on the water is great. However the service is atrocious and the manager or owner I am not sure who he was is a jerk, we had a group of 10 of which 8 of us had arrived for and they refused to seat anyone. When we asked to talk to the manager that guy came up and was completely rude. When seated the food was okay but way overpriced
Ate there today. Horrible! Waited 20 mins for a table for 5. Slow, slow service all around. Asked the waiter what came with the trout - a lunch special - he scanned the menu - than said "shrimp - as it says." I asked about a side and he said "what do you want, a potato??" Never returned to the table, or offered refills on drinks and water. The waiter ended with a demand for more money than the 10% tip -- which was more than he deserved.
As many noted in many a review, this is a true classic, a restaurant that has stood the test of time and always offers a great meal.
I started dining here as a kid in the 1960's, then into adult years, and have loved this place , and still do. I remember dining with Judy Garlands table across from mine.
Most of all, I remember and still enjoy the best seadood around.
Still a great Boston standard. A little touristy but it's a Boston classic.
Clearly this place is past its prime, and it is a shame. Every Christmas Eve I eat dinner here with family, and this has been a tradition since I could walk. Unfortunately, that will change after my dining experience this past week. There was literally a bug in my father's Glover Salad, and he could not even eat his fish entree. However, the Crab Cakes I ate were not too bad, but not great. Pier 4 should retire to save its legacy.
