Amazing food in the atmosphere of an open French bistro. We started with the beet, endive and goat cheese salad, which was excellent. On the recommendation of our server, we ordered the fondue and cartoucherie. The friuts, nuts, meats, etc.. went wonderfully with the selected cheeses and the fondue. We followed the cheese courses with asparagus risotto and parmesaen gnocchi. This was not your typical gnocchi. Rather than a heavy sauce, it was accompanied by small pieces of pork, fava beans, oyster mushrooms, spinach and a wonderful demi-glace wine gravy. Outstanding food!!!

update feb 2013 - still excellent - service, food, wine by the glass - menu changed but typical bistro - really good stuff
Try it for lunch - stop by Friday to pick up cheese for the weekend. Knowledgeable, helpful cheese staff - incredible. Great wine by the glass menu - menu less interesting than it used to be but quality always terrific - not much else in the neighborhood of equal ambiance and specialties

  • Nice atmosphere but surprisingly noisy given the high ceilings. Cheese wasn't on the Restaurant Week Prix Fixe - which is a bit odd for a cheese restaurant. But good on the fish side and friendly efficient service. Party of four - we all loved it.

  • Loud bistro feel with a decent menu, but for me it's the cheese that I come here to support!

the food is overpriced and the quality is just OK. Thank God there are better and more affordable french bistros in new York

  • Old time French in both decor and menu.French Restaurant Week $17.50 turned out to be a bar snack (one dish and one drink), but $29.95 prix fixe was satisfactory. Vouvray seemed a little off.
