Great date night. Intimate service and surroundings.
The tarte flambe (an Alsatian onion and bacon tart) alone is worth a visit to this charming West Village restaurant. The menu contains only about half-a-dozen entrees, but every one is imaginative and well-prepared. Good wine selection and very friendly wait staff. Will definitely return to August during my next visit to NYC.
August's Euro-eclectic entrees are rather rustic, a la our stuffed Dorade recently, apps emphasize the modern, while desserts trend classic such as our delicious rhubarb tarte. The glass rear atrium is stunningly-lit at night. Wine by carafe is a welcome feature. Euro guidebooks might cite this venue, judging by the clientele; we passed on a 40-minute wait for brunch one Sunday in March.
Me and my mother went there today for lunch, i think it was by far the worst Restaurant in Nyc, service was terrible, we were there for an hour And we didn't get to eat a thing. One of the waiters kept on shouting, cursing and breaking all plates and glasses on his way, surprisingly in the middle of the dining room, and after a long while they came to apologize and telling us they were not able to prepare our food. never ever going back.
