The Balsan is beautiful, located in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.Walking through the site sets high expectation for the guest. Unfortunately beyond aesthetics the European style food leaves little to be desired - its a mismash of italian, french, and everything else. Worse than the highly priced food, was the service. The waiter was pulling our plates before we were completely done.... not sure it worth the visit.
Just about everything about this place was fantastic. My server (Kelly) was great and very helpful regarding details of each dish and wine. The oysters were served with a mignonette made with chives and had a tiny kick which was both surprising and excellent. The foie gras torchon was big, rich, and delicious. The salmon with Thai curry, mushrooms, bok choy, cilantro and a little bit of wonderful slightly sweet rice was perfect. Great place!
