I visited Basso cafe for the first time , and I was blown away by the place. After a very warm greeting and a quick opening and pouring of our wine,(BYOB is great by the way and the cork fee is minimal) All of the specials sounded amazing. We loved everything from tapas to desserts and everything in between. the lamb was perfect as was the tres leches dessert. Service is very professional and the atmosphere is great. A must try for any food lover
What a pleasant surprise. There were 6 of us, and we had such a good time. The service was friendly, and the wine was great (of course, we brought it). The halibut was light and elegant, but the gnocchi was heavenly. I dream about having it again. Yum!
Good food. 28 food rating? Regardless of food, I brought 2 bottles of wine for dinner. BYOB and they charge $10 a bottle to bring wine in? $20 charge for my wife and I to drink wine there? Are you kidding me? We eat out 5 times a week for years; and never did any other BYOB charge to drink wine. Disgraceful. The place isn't that good. Didn't disclose it; had to find charge on bill. Beyond awful! Will never consider returning.
I had a business dinner here on a thurs nt. I'm in the pharma industry and this was the perfect spot. The food was phenoemenal. A few of the stand-outs were: the mozzarella and bacon app, the seared tuna and the pork chops stuffed with fontina and spinach w/ roasted grapes. The rest is casual elegant with a bit of European flair. Service was very attentive and the BYOB made it perfect. Food is right up there with some top NYC places. Great tapas!
Very disappointing meal. Slow service even though there weren't many people there, waitress didn't get our order right and the food wasn't even as good as our limited expectation. Food score should be in the range of 21/22
