Hey Ya'll. been going to the Bayou since the early 90"s back when Chef Jean Pierre Galina the original owner had the place. He opened it back in 1986. Back then it was amazing. really imaginative food and great party atmosphere. No place like it back then. Eventually he sold the place and opened up Big Daddy's which is in Massapequa. Another great place, when HE had it, still good but not the same. Wish I knew where he is cooking now!!!
Used to love this place, but it's becoming inconsistent. Extremely long wait, and the hostess' estimate wasn't even close to reality. Service was friendly, but VERY slow, and not very attentive--inexcusable for such a small restaurant. The food was lukewarm in temperature, and not as piquant as described in the menu. Still, the gumbo was good. Adult atmosphere (no kids menu). Bar, weekly entertainment. Bring cash--they only accept Amex.
Love, love, love this place! Feel like you stepped into a New Orleans bistro. The food, atmosphere and service is fantastic! Delicious and original! Try it! You'll be glad you did!
FUN! Great food, great drinks, a place to party!
Get your hurricane fix.
