Very nice, unpretentious, upscale Japanese - sushi very good, tempura not too oily, cooked dishes (salmon and steak) nicely prepared. I usually order just vegetable tofu soup plus rice in the winter months - great!
The only local place we come for sushi, now that we've learnt to order its "Japanese sushi" plate, not the A or B options - which are 'only' very good. Benkei's also ramped-up its cold sake offerings, to delightful - as the tea's always been. The sashimi always is fresh & perfectly cut - no fat or integuments as found too often in LI sushi spots. Only when all seats are filled are its servers over-tasked - but never rude.
Excellent food! Wait staff very nice. Plan to go back soon!
Consistently excellent food with creative new menu items from time to time.
Very attentive, friendly staff and comfortable environment.Good sake menu.
Benkei's warm and inviting atmosphere combines wonderfully with the tasty and always-fresh-tasting sushi. With attentive servers and tasty welcome treats of spicy noodles, Benkei offers an atmosphere of catching up with friends and family while snacking on sushi rolls with no pressure to leave or be hurried out.
