Pricey place. I went as everyone said that its a very popular foo-dist venue and I went expecting I guess more than was provided and was kind of disappointing. Food is great, small portions, but service is alright. I dont think I will return.
"The food's the thing", here, especially if your thing is (sometimes very) small and highly savory portions at somewhat elevated prices. Had a client for lunch here and I had a superb endive salad and a very imaginative and tasty fish entree. Wine list appeared good as well. "Minimalist" is one way to describe the decor; one could just as well ask, "what decor?" Service was fine albeit a bit stretched out.
This food is good! The unusual combinations on each plate made for a true dining experience: everything perfectly balanced on the palate, and every element perfectly prepared. Bravo to the chef and his crew. Next time in Chicago we'll skip the hype of Tapalabompo and have a quiet feast here. Wine list just fine, too.
Very very high end newamerican ; upscale régional products well showcased backed by very good wine list and super service ; well worth it's Michelin star.A must visit
I have been a regular patron of Blackbird since it opened. The food has consistently improved over the years and have had many unbelievable meals here. It is like a spa for your taste buds -pure pleasure. The appetizers and deserts are often extremely witty and innovative. Not everyone likes the crowded seating and minimalists decor but I love it. Some of the best food in Chicago and reasonably priced for the quality level.
