By the time you're finished here, you'll have had the best dog ever, and spent more than you expected to with the fries and whatnot. Point is, this place is worth driving to as a destination -- not just as a passing by event, it's that good. Stop at orchards along the way during apple/pumpkin season; or on your way skiing, or wherever. Don't miss it. But bring Tums. Heartburn reigns when you rein in a Blackie's dog.
So overated Frankies or Glennwood is so much better...
A real trip down nostalgia lane. It is not often you can experience a bygone era before chains - and certainly not for $1.75 per hot dog. The dogs themselves are not the worlds best, but I did say they were $1.75 each. Just the experience was worth it, and by the way the hot dogs are decent.
Americana at its best. Remember that hot dog stand from your childhood? This is the space. No variety, just hotdogs, chocolate milk, bag of chips and old fashioned birch beer. The highlight is their special hot pepper relish. Step up to the bar and place your order. In summer the garage doors are open up to the bar.
A landmark in the area. The homemade relishes are so good.
