FYI. The restaurant is currently closed due to the death of its owner
The food today is better than the old location's ratings and should be ratcheted up a notch or two from what I see here. However, there is an overcooking tendency, so be very specific to order meats and fish on the rare side, stay away from dishes with a risotto side, and you likely will have a great meal. Pastas are very nicely done. The space has potential, is nicely appointed inside, but needs a nicer outdoor setting worthy of the vintage Alfa Romeo next to you. Fried shredded artichoke/arugula starter is truly don't-miss excellent. Good salads. Generally perfect portions. Vegies and potato sides are uniformly delicious, simple, and perfectly cooked. Small, very reasonable wine selection. No bar. Not desert fans so you're on your own on that end. Olive oil pound cake was interesting. Very friendly, professional and attentive small staff.
While you are eating with your eyes closed, you feel you are in Italy. Don't pay attention to the decor. The staff in the dining room must be volunteers.
From the moment I walked in I loved this place. The decor is warm and inviting, the staff is excellent, friendly, funny and so welcoming. The owner comes out to greet you and make sure everything is up to snuff. My Cosmo was fantastic, the hot antipasta, delicious! My Panna Cotta for dessert was to die for! I will be returning again and again to Cafe Giulia!
Casual elegance in a comfortable setting. BEST calamari in region, by far. Seasonal draught beers are reasonably priced. New chicken pot pie is delicious "comfort food". Lamb chops, when offered, are substantial and perfectly cooked. Beet salad always a "winner". Carafe of "house" wine very good and excellent value. Chef willing & ABLE to satisfy diners. Strongly recommend!
