  • Best carnitas in the city, hands down. I have no idea how this place stays off the radar like it does, but I have taken 40-plus people to Carnitas Uruapan over the past 17 years, and they have all come away hooked. This place was opened back in about 1975 when Pilsen was still a Polish neighborhood, and somehow it has managed to stay in business all these years with no buzz or hype -- just the best carnitas in Chicago. Moist and delicious.
