  • This continues to be a favorite of ours. The owner normally greets you at the door. My wife loves the rigatoni w/ meat sauce topped w/ a chicken breast special (not on the menu, but offered every night) and I'm a big fan of the pappardelle con porcini. It's nothing super fancy, but that's its charm. BYOB without a corking fee! Great for big groups, but call ahead as the place is small & normally crowded (reservations only for groups 6 ).

  • Pretty solid italian fare-good mix of classic italian dishes & more updated dishes. Dish portions are huge.Potato gnocchi is the most authentic and best tasting gnocchi I have found in Chicago-finally! Gnocchi is the right texture, not too fluffy-a yummy dense ball of goodness tossed in a chuncky meat sauce.Bread is not good-save your calories for the food, you 'll need to save room to try to finish! Best part it's BYOB with no corckage fee.

  • I just moved to the area and tried it sort of randomly. I didn’t expect to have some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had!! I bring friends there whenever anyone visits from out of town and it’s always a winner. BYOB so it’s a great value. Prices are very reasonable, and the service is better than anywhere downtown.

  • Probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in Chicago. Servers are amazingly attentive - the staff even set up an extra table when the wait got long. A definite gem in the area.

Caro Mio is a hidden gem along a nice little stretch of Wilson. The neighborhood location is convenient to Ravenswood, Lincoln Square or North Center. We love the home-made food and the pastas are what make us skip a few more convenient neighborhood spots to return again and again. The staff is friendly and attentive. The decor could use a little updating, but the art from their neighbor's studio is great. Also BYOB makes it a great value.
