This restaurant has a new chef; a definite return is a must. Had a recent dining experience that was really enjoyable; especially on a sunday, when you get 50% off all wine. Go hungry because the portions are big and worth the trip from small plates to dessert.
this down town stamord french bistro is like a nice bottle of french table wine: not trying to be more than it is - just good - not exceptional - just good. The owner is a charming frenchman who is very welcoming and accomidating
I visited with my wife and grown up son on a Saturday in early June. We all had the prix fixe $15 lunch and enjoyed the meal very much. We all made different choices and all were very well prepared and presented. My wife asked for and got proper French dressing (dijon mustard, olive oil and vinegar) instead to the basalmic dressing in the menu. We added a sorbet for dessert. Each of the 3 scopes tasted home made and were delicious. We will back.
Georges Escoffier would have described this place as une plaisanterie ?norme . The folding tables and tag sale artwork set the stage. The foie gras appetizer had the texture of cow's brains and the Escargot turned back into snails. The duck and the veal chops looked great, but were tasteless. They got my money and my bad word of mouth - la nourriture est insipide.
Disappointing to say the least. The Assiette Paysanne that was supposed to have an assortment of hams, cheese etc was just a plate with saltine crackers, mushy deviled eggs, small chunks of undistinguishable meats and cheeses. Escargots were average, the brochette of shrimp and scallops was served over a bed of watery tasteless lentils. Ice cream had freezer burn. Cannot figure out how on earth you could give this restaurant a 24 for food.
