Went here for 5-year anniversary dinner with high expectations. The chicken entree was delicious, and the cocktails were amazing, but the experience was underwhelming (but we were unfortunately surrounded with some incredibly rude company at the tables to our left and right). Will be back with better neighbors, hopefully, especially for the cocktails and to try uni.
Uni Clio - This famous restaurant has a sushi bar on one side and a fine dining french restaurant on the other side. It is rare to be able to get good sea urchin prepared in a japanese way in Boston, and hence makes this restaurant a gem in the city. As for the french cuisine, during my trip to Boston in 2008, I was rather impressed by the iron chef's menu of using coffee as theme imbued into the cuisines including coffee venison, coffee lobster.
Molecular gastronomy done right. This is one of only a couple world-class restaurants in Boston. When El Bulli's chef came to teach at Harvard, the place he visited was Clio, and that dinner apparently went almost all night. Inventive, interesting - and above all wonderful cooking...
You have to understand what they're trying to achieve here, and not just go in expecting the usual thing.
A special occassion place. The truffle menu is heaven! Attentive service. Cozy yet chic decor.
Hype-y but a very solid Dining experience all the way around
