Very disappointed of the quality of food and service. I have been to Don Pepe numerous time, I enjoyed the food and was happy with the service. but last time on May 16, 2013, the food and service didn't seem the same. Old bread served. I ordered the broiled seafood combination that was on special. The combination platter consisted of 4 baby scallops, 4 clams, 6 mussels, few medium shrimps, a pound and quarter lobster were all over cooked.
Super red sauce seafood chowder that is like Manhattan Clam Chowder on steroids. Go at lunch time & you can get away under $20 if you just order water with the meal.
Pleasurable luncheon and would recommend and return.
3 lb lobster very good just slightly overcooked a bit chewy, chips and rice for sides average nothing special would return and try other dishes.
First it should be clarified that Don Pepe's II located in Pine Brook(the original Don Pepe is in Newark)&Don Pepe's Steakhouse are two seperate places. Speaking on the Don Pepe's II, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal & it is one of the best deals around. Steaks are huge & not top quality but very good. The overall menu is nothing fancy but good. The decor is simple & tired but the service is very good. Fun spot but always a wait on the weekends.
