Went to Epic in the Fall and returned in January with the same group. Had great meals each time and the service can't be beat. Jason, one of the managers, knows how to take care of his customers. Loved the ahi tuna appetizer and the bar apps (lobster fries, sliders) are incredible. The ahi tuna entree as well as the scallops were great. Must get the smore's for dessert.
NOT recommended for groups. We had several last minute cancellations - people from England were jet-lagged, several people were catching colds, etc. The restaurant held us responsible for the no-shows - said that they had incurred extra costs for dinner. I fail to see how much extra costs can be incurred with gnocchi, polenta, caesar salad, etc. Food was ok but nothing to write home about.
Over rated food, but the vibe makes up
Food was good but didn't impress. Atmosphere and decor were definitely great, but didn't quite make up for the slow service at times. Worth a try but not a place to visit regularly, even if it does fit your budget.
Two visits have highlighted similar themes: Sophisticated food in cool surroundings let down by inefficient, albeit friendly service. Imaginative flavor combinations are well executed and some items are outstanding especially the fish dishes and in particular the halibut ceviche. The roof top bar is an excellent venue for pre-dinner drinks. Over time I hope that the service will become faster and more accurate.
