If you have a read a good review before and then experienced a bad experience yourself, let me put you at ease. The whole time I was there, I got to watch Jordan (one of the main Chefs) evaluate every plate leaving the kitchen. I saw him fix an error or two, sometimes even just a smudge on the side of the plate. As I sat there I couldn’t help but continue to watch a master at work. It’s rare that you see someone so adamant about making perfection
Convientantly located by Millenium Park and the Art Institute. The Gage is a great place to dine. I highly recommend the scallop salad (my favorite) - light and flavorful, and the beignets.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at The Gage. The food was all delicious; the beer, wine, and spirits list was excellent; and the service was outstanding. I have never been so impressed with the bus boys' service in a restaurant in my life. The only downside was the noise. The acoustics are terrible and make for a very noisy restaurant. But if you can stand to talk a little louder over your meal, I highly recommend The Gage.
I came with the wrong group, they are super picky eaters. I had the fried chicken livers, not bad. The Amish chicken I had wasn't that great. The Lime Soda was very good though. I feel I would need to come again with a better group to give a more accurate description cause it seems like a great spot with a good selection but the one entree I tried was just average. Service was good though.
We were there with my in-laws and we all liked the food. It is a bit loud but the service was nice and effective. Managers keep making rounds of the tables checking that the customers have a good experience.
