We have not been there since Carmen passed away, but we use to go to the original on 79th Street Gil and Carmen were quite a team, with fantastic food, Pavarotti ate there. The food is suburb. You felt like you were in their house.
We miss the good old days
Gil is amazing and everything about Gil's has a real life old school charm! It's a taste of real Italian and seeing Gil with his mighty Italian mustache really adds the perfect touch to a great experience. Make sure to have some garlic rolls!
This has to be the worst Italian food, decor, and service in Miami. Salt is king, decor is left over from what must have been the glory days, the staff is unprofessional, and the place stinks. I don't get the rave reviews. The place was empty at 8:30pm and I understand why.
The food is wonderful!!! I've never had such tender chicken marsala and the eggplant dishes are so yummy. We walked out feeling like we just had Sunday dinner at grandma and grandpa's. The wife of the owner, Carmen, had decorated the restaurant with their personal history which made us feel like we were in her living room.
