I am a picky New Yorker who has long complained about the restaurants (except for barbecue and Mexican food) available near my home in Duncanville. But my son found Hattie's using Zagat. I have now eaten here 10 ten times and taken half a dozen friends, plus my wife. It's just great. Great food, especially the shrimp and grits, and more. Get the figs with walnuts and blue cheese!
Two words - braised greens! This part of the entree has to go! It's soggy, bitter, reminds me of something from a cafeteria. Tried 2 entrees, one was the slow roasted pulled pork - the pulled pork by itself was just ok, but the marmalade onions and the country grits made it better. Also had the bacon wrapped, jalapeno stuffed quail - that was eh! I wouldn't order it again. Both entrees had that braised greens. Banana almond bread pudding was good
hattie's is one of the reasons dallas' oak cliff neighborhood is now a primo restaurant destination. think old south -- in a good way. think loving attention to detail. think food prepared and served in a manner that suggests the cooks and servers take pride in what they do. then set your GPS for a mouthwatering meal here, whether brunch, lunch or dinner.
Sunday brunch is a treat. Love the fried chicken and waffles and the shrimp and grits. Southern cooking at its best.
Menu changes often. Love the atmosphere. Great food
