Haven is billed as one of the 1st certified green restaurants in the area, but it's also one of the best restaurants in Houston. Started with the Hill Country Wild Boar chili, broccoli soup & deviled eggs. These were followed by shrimp & grits and locall gulf fish & finished with Texas cheeses. Everything was delicious, but the highlight was the service. The waiter not only helped us order but suggested we bypass wine for a limited local bee

Southern favorites meet sustainability and sophistication at Haven. Outside the restaurant, owner and chef Randy Evans and his staff compost kitchen scraps and tend to a garden; inside, the restaurant serves its farm-to-table dishes in an eco-friendly setting with green touches like energy efficient lighting and recycled glass and paper products.

Everything on the menu is done well and creative. Haven is definitely a restaurant worth a visit.

  • This place was a huge disappointment. All of the dishes were off the mark. The artichoke soup was under-seasoned, the baked oysters were a soggy mess, the vegetable curry was a bland disaster and the red snapper was cooked to rubber. The service did not do this place any favors either. Many improvements need to be made, but I just don't think this place has what it takes to go for a worthwhile meal.

  • Our second, and last, visit. All four of us found the food quality a serious disappointment and way down from our first visit. The appetizers were good but the entrees... one of my quail was undercooked to near raw. Both wives' head-on shrimp were over-salted as to be inedible (literally). They were sold out of two of the nine entree items when we arrived (at 7:45pm). Randy Evans was nowhere in sight. Too bad. This place had so much promise.
