I absolutely love HB. I think the food is delicious, the service is spot-on, and the decor is warm, cozy, and welcoming. I bring people all the time and everyone I've brought has returned on thier own, repeatedly. Hands down, one of the best restaurants in Chicago, and a great value for the price.
O.K. so hands down one our favorite spots in Chicago. You go in and feel like you are family. But one of those cool families you actually like spending time with. Food is consistently great. Their fries can't be beat. BYOB helps complete the evening, but skip dessert unless it's the bread pudding.
Do not pass go, do not spend $50. Ok, maybe I should have given this place a second try - but after the wretched lamb burger and atrocious service (Sorry, we weren't gay nor we we regulars) who would want to revisit this establishment? They get props for having romantic decor and being BYO... but that's about it from me.
excellent mussels, best I have had outside Belgium
A Chicago favorite - cozy but classy, with delicious and reasonably-priced food. Every meal here has been wonderful. Those from the Philadelphia area will appreciate occasional tributes to regional favorites like scrapple and water ice. Homemade chocolate bars are often on the dessert menu and worth a try. Service is always relaxed and outstanding, and BYOB is a bonus.
