We go out of our way to eat at this restaurant because they serve traditional and tasty German food, such as a very good sauerbraten.
Walked to restaurant from Museum of Art in a driving rain storm. My son was soaked, hungry, and cold upon arrival. The waiter and staff went out of their way to find an old souvenir tee shirt for my son to change into. They quickly brought him some bread and rushed his order of chicken fingers. The rest of the meal was served professionally at a casual, unrushed pace. Cozy decor, decent food, nice service. A good value overall.
Germanic charm abounds, especially now that the servers are costumed -- like a quick trip to the Black Forest, and one of the few spots remaining in the city for German food. Had to send my gulash soup back to the kitchen to have some of the grease removed, but when returned it was quite tasty.
one of the last German establishments on 86th street, the best reason for preserving it.
Old standard; great food, good service and good prices. Owner is a sweetheart and always strives to make you feel at home.
