I LOVED the pulled pork! Melts in your mouth. The place fits right in the neighborhood, artsy, individualistic. The sides aren't the best, I've had slaw with no dressing, but that yellow BBQ sauce, I could eat that on cereal! Chicken tender, Viking beef ribs astonishing! The owners are real Pilsen fixtures, wonderful friendly people. We are greeted like family when we come here. Try the banana pudding for dessert, yum.
I went here when I first moved into the area because we heard some good things from people and tv. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype as much as I would have liked. The fried green tomatoes were really good, but the pulled pork my wife had as mediocre and the rib tips I had were sub-par. The atmosphere is fun and exciting and service was great, but not that place I would choose for BBQ in the city.
It feels like you're entering your favorite aunt and uncle's art gallery for dinner. There are over 200 original paintings on the walls. Some of the best "dry-rub" ribs in town. Beef brisket melts in your mouth. Pulled pork won 3rd in worldwide competition Memphis In May. Fried green tomatoes are wonderful. The banana pudding and the peach cobbler have bling-bling. Sit and enjoy dinner with live "rock-a-billy" entertainment.
My wife and I went to Honky Tonk BBQ last night. The BBQ ribs were outstanding. They were flavorfull and stay with the bone until I chewed the meat off.No fat this is how baby backs should be. If you can't chew the meat off the bone then your either lazy or ordering the wrong thing. The corn bread muffins were better then home made as was the mashed potatoes. Everything was great including the after dinner tour of the new part of the restaruant..
Pulled pork and Brisket are real highlights.
