I followed many of the reviews and tried the mussels as well as the CB&J and LOVED both! They were excellent! My guy was mildly impressed with the brisket, he wished he'd followed the reviews a little more. The beer list was fantastic. I have been on a gastropub kick lately - the atmosphere was a little larger and louder than the cozy places I've been hitting, but the food & brews were excellent (even as leftovers).
We stopped in here for the first time after moving to the neighborhood a few weeks ago and the rave reviews we've heard were all true! The environment is very relaxed, and while at first it was confusing on where to go, do we just sit down? A lovely girl found us and seated us right away. We both tried new beers from recommendations by our server and both of our meals were amazing. I highly recommend the mussels appetizer also.
This is my favorite craft beer bar in Chicago, and the food is mighty fine also. Now that they're open for lunch, one can avoid the crowded evenings. The staff is not falsely cheerful, which may turn off some, but they obviously enjoy their work and are very knowledgeable about the food and giant beer menu. Food highlights are the mussels, duck reuben, any rabbit dish, and the cashew butter and fig jam sandwich (CB&J).
One of the BEST pubs in Chicago with out a doubt!!! Buyer beware: No lite beer sold here..sorry!
Beer! Mussels! Great selection of fancy beers for the beer snob - lots of fun to sit at the bar and talk with the servers. Incredible mussels with crust bread and frites.
