A little restaurant that never seems to have any cars outside. Little wonder... you think you're being led to a hibachi table when all they have is barbecue. Definitely unexpected. The meat itself was ok but the appetizers were seaweed and other "delicacies" that seem to be placed in front of you as a joke. Then the staff asks you why you haven't touched your wilted kelp. Because I'm afraid it will force me to wretch all over your cuing pit.

Though I expect Japanese restaurants to smell of raw fish there was something unsettling about the degree to which the odor saturated the sushi bar & surrounding area, thankfully we were seated in the lower dining room. I had smoked eel & salmon sushi - flavorless even with the sauce on it & not fresh tasting. The chicken in the hibachi my friend ordered was dry & the noodles had an odd taste, like old pan grease. Sorry to say not good.

My fianc?e and I started eating at Izumi in Feb 08, and since then we visit at least twice a month. Seating is available at the sushi bar, by the waterfall or at the hibachi upstairs. Even in the quiet main dining room, the atmosphere is peaceful (though the piped-in New Age music seems to loop a bit too often). The sushi is fresh and delicious, and the staff is eager to please. Overall, an experience I am often eager to repeat!

Finally good sushi in Danbury! Some kinks in the service need ironing out then this will be THE place for Sushi in this area.
