Rarely have I been to such an overrated restaurant. Never have I been served so rudely. The horrible witch that greeted my wife & I, sat us at our table, reluctantly. My wife's medium-well done filet had to be sent back as it was still mooing. As I brought my fork to my mouth to eat a bite of my dinner, my plate was removed from under me as I ate! Everything was brought back 5 min later, overcooked and uneatable. Horrible! Avoid at all costs!
This restaurant was completely empty on a recent Tuesday; we were the only diners the entire night. Very strange. The food was good, not great. The restaurant's ambience is old and tired. Frankly, my experience that night was considerably worse than the Zagats rating led me to expect. I can't imagine ever returning there.
I started with the mouth watering 3 caviar salad (I have not found any other restaurant that makes this) - DELICIOUS! Then I had the imported and wild Scottish grouse, that was tender, mildly seasoned and juicy. Not wanting to stop there, I then had the chocolae mouse which was prepared that afternoon. Linda, the owner oversaw the front and Jean Louis, an always attentive chef came out to get our reaction to his creations. SPECTACULAR!!!
We recently revisited Jean-Louis following a Christmas repast and happily enjoyed the familiar mouth watering food with matching fine wine. Linda's presence and touch in overseeing our good service made us feel at home even amongst the crowd and its appreciative din.
