The pizza here is average. It's not the best, but it's good "pub grub". One nice thing is that their kitchen is open fairly late.
The food is top end pizza and bar food. They have a full menu of rums and you will not find such a collection anywhere in the area. Go for these two items. If something seems too experimental (like chocolate walnut wings), it will taste as it sounds. Keep in mind though that the art college students at MICA are mainstays here and experimental music of many tastes are normally playing through system or live band in evenings.
Maybe it the chef's night off, but I had heard great things about the pizza at Joe Squared and was severely disappointed. The combinations were clever and sounded appetizing, but the execution was poor and it tasted dry and like cardboard. Wasn't disappointed by the beer list, though, as it has a number of finds that I haven't seen at other area bars.
