Famous in Ft. Worth, but some consider it touristy. Set menu and remember to bring cash, they don't take credit cards.
Be careful when you eat here. Visited this restaurant for the first time in November and got a seriously bad case of food poisoning. I've never had food poisoning before except overseas, but this was bad enough for me to run to urgent care. Too bad, I really liked the ambience, but I'll never return.
Still puzzled why people rave over Joe T's. it's a tradition, it's Old Fort Worth (in a city that increasingly does not resemble itself), and fun nostalgia. I recently tried fajitas for the first time after endless meals of the regular dinner. They were not freshly cooked, tender, or juicy. The regular dinner is basically like a cafeteria brought to your table, without the choices Luby's offers. Rote learning is out. Rote eating should be too.
This was my first Mexican restaurant in Texas. I felt very rushed and was only given 3 entrees to choose from. I was quite disappointed. The food was average. I've been in Texas for two years now and everyone still raves about it. I must have missed something so it is on my list to try again. I'm hopeful.
Solid food and service.
