Don't blink or you'll drive right past this old gin joint that's been converted to a Sushi bar. The old wooden bar still lines the left side of the room. Like a true dive, there is no atmosphere other than the cameraderie of enjoying some of the best Sushi Long Island has to offer. Clean with cheezy decorations, this place is HIGHLY recommended. (There's a parking lot behind the building so you don't have to back out onto NY Ave.)

Location isn't everything. Since 1987, just north of the Walt Whitman Mall, Kohaku has long been a favorite of local sushi cognoscenti. The authenticity of Ken Uehara's menu shines above the crowd of pan-asian offerings. Satisfied newcomers wonder why they haven't been here before. For those who seek only the freshest, innovative sushi in a friendly family restaurant will find Kohaku preserves the Japanese tradition of excellent food and service!
