My favorite is the original location on Cesar Chavez Avenue in East L.A. I've been a fan since the '80s with one room (now three). The tortilla station in the middle of the main dining room was added a few years later, which adds to the festive atmosphere. Several entrees you're not likely to find elsewhere. Everything is authentic and professional. The Wilshire Blvd. and Sunset Blvd. locations are nice, too; haven't tried the newest West Covina.
Glad to have come across this solid, authentic Mexican spot west of downtown. The salsa and pico de gallo made the meal -- thankfully, as tasty as I'd wish for in a restaurant that's 135 miles north of the Mexican border. The decor was bona fide. The service during my weekday lunch visit may have been overfocused on the delivery orders.
