One of my chinatown favorites. Lao doesn't disappoint.
Food is mostly good, but service is frustrating bec. most waiters don't speak Eng. We tried to ask soup be served first, & other dishes brought later, but they don't. They bring the other food which gets cold while we have soup. They won't seat you at a large table, even if it's Tuesday & its half empty; they want to seat you at a table for 2. Doesn't make sense. Learn Mandarin.
Too bad this place has been discovered by the local foodies... but it's still worth a visit regardless of the wait. Don't miss the Pea Shoots.
In my opinion, this place and Lao Beijing are the best chinese restaurants in the city. You have to try the twice-cooked pork and the chili fried chicken.
Some dishes here will melt your socks off, but the flavors are all authentic and intense.
