Tex-Mex restaurant tucked away on a corner of Newbury Street, is an unexpected mix of vampire lounge (with the red velvet couches, damask wallpaper, and dark nooks) and a carnival (with the dry-ice palate cleanser, and the cotton candy & pop rocks dessert), a nice change of pace from the sometimes serious Boston dining scene. Excellent food
Fun atmosphere. Great drinks. Boston needed something other than another italian or French restaurant. Nice extras like granita and cotton candy.
I went here last night and was sadly disappointed. The food was really not that flavorful. The menu looks fantastic but when you get the dishes, they weren't that creative or interesting. We had the lobster from hell and for 32 dollars, I expect more than 4 bites of lobster. The picante guacamole was also sub par and not very hot at all. This place seems more night club - ambiance than a great restaurant. I would only go back for drinks.
Moody and dark interior (... still in the works. I believe they're getting some couches/additional seating in soon). Great tequila list. Food is okay. Hopefully they'll follow through on hosting Sunday Industry Nights. Be sure to make a dining reservation for busy weekend nights.
