This Tex-Mex staple has been around forever (as has the furniture, the decor, and some of the waitstaff). You don't go here for fancy dishes, though; you come here for the old stand-bys, which are made as well as they have always been. One of the first Houston restaurants to embrace the Mexican puffy taco. The margaritas are solid but nothing special. Anything you order that is fried will taste fantastic; grilled items are so-so.
My dinner mates really enjoyed their fajitas. I liked my taco. However, we did not see our waiter again until he brought our checks so I wasn't served the rest of my Tampico dinner. I got it to-go. Not the most desirable dining experience. Also, really noisy. That may have been the fault of the people sitting in back of us. The restaurant was full to capacity but I don't think that excuses the all the problems with service.
Excellent Queso with beef. The service was very attentive.
