What a waste of time!! Just because your on the food network doesn't mean its good. Try Contois Tavern 152 Nicoll St, for the BEST Burgers in town.....
Louis Lunch is a terrible tourist trap. The staff is super unfriendly, slow, and just not customer-oriented. The food is flavorless as well. Don't make the mistake to go just for the "atmosphere", because a shabby interior, packed to absolute maximum with tourists, is _not_ a pleasant atmosphere. Charging over 10$ for a simple water, low quality toast with a flavorless patty, and potato goo of undefined origin, this place is a total rip off.
Good burger with a homemade taste, tiny place with a great historic atmosphere. Limited menu - burgers, potato chips, potato salad and pie. NO condiments. A chesse burger does not involve cheese, but cheese spread. Cute brick building, all dark wood inside. If you go during lunch time you can have quite the wait - we waited an hour, but it was fun watching the burgers grill in the old vertical spits.
It it what it is. Historic, small, and not known for a warm welcoming staff however the burger is what a burger should be in its simplest form. The meat had a great taste and was juicy. Potato salad was very good, almost like half egg salad. Being local I go early so there's no crowd.
