Four of us had a tremendous dinner at Mamma Maria last evening. It truly deserves all of the accolades it receives. Great fresh pasta, a veal osso buco which was out of this world and the best bolognese dish I have ever tasted. Deserts were terrific as well. The service was polished and professional, yet not pretentious. Treat yourself and go!
The lobster ravioli (which they sometimes serve as an appetizer instead of an entree) and the osso bucco are to die for!! The appetizers, many featuring seasonal ingredients, are also quite excellent. I especially look forward to the freshly baked bread, pesto and olives that they serve at the beginning of your meal - sometimes I ask for more it's so good. I also love the townhouse, "homey" feel and casually elegant decor.
Best pesto ever! Lobster ravioli was amazing with the thinnest lightest dough I've ever seen. Can't wait to return.
Classy and cozier more upscale townhouse atmosphere than most of the North End bustling trattorias. Nicely executed tasty osso buco with risotto, very good fresh cod dish, the bolognese sauce was a little on the sparse/dry side. Tasty array of sautéed bay scallops, buratta, and roasted figs and prosciutto for starters. Reasonably priced wine list with nice array of selections. Professional service.
Good atmosphere - very unimpressed with the food. Over priced and over-hyped for the actual quality. There are better options in the area.
