  • The pastas are good, but not original. Sometimes the service is kind of slow, but generally is fine.

  • Overpriced and underwhelming. Used to be a find but Mario has jacked the prices and shrunken the portions so much that it's actually cheaper to go to cafe spiaggia. Too bad.

  • We had a dinner reservation for 3 adults and a 10- month old. We were seated next to another baby-15 months old, which again would indicate that children are welcome. It was not until my child started talking-not crying, but talking, that the owner felt he needed to come over with the bartender as backup and essentially tell me to shut my child up. As he put it he had a lot of “nice diners” coming in on a Saturday evening. I could not believe what I was hearing! My son was not crying he was not throwing food or playing with silverware-he was speaking; how I am supposed to reprimand him for that? Truthfully I thought it was a joke. My husband and I work closely with the CVB as well as local concierges and I can assure you I will be sharing my experience. If they don’t want families in there on a Saturday night, that is their prerogative. They shouldn’t accept the reservation. Please do not ask me to discipline my child for doing nothing wrong.

  • Mario's is an unpretentious neighborhood restaurant offering up Italian fare that's reliable, delicious and homey. While ambiance is seriously lacking (the decor is almost uninviting from the outside) once you're seated the food is so tasty that it is easy to forgive the mediocre decor. The bread could (and should) be improved upon but the olive oil and grated cheese that accompany it are a delight. Try the thin crust pizza and tiramisu.
